Expert tips for press release success
Timing is Everything
Release your press release on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 10 AM - 2 PM EST for maximum pickup. Avoid Mondays, Fridays, and weekends when journalists are less active.
Keep It Newsworthy
Focus on what's new, significant, or impactful. Journalists want news, not advertisements. Ask yourself: "Would I read this if it wasn't about my company?"
Use Data and Statistics
Include specific numbers, percentages, and data points. Journalists love concrete facts they can cite. "Sales increased significantly" is weak; "Sales increased 127%" is strong.
Include Multimedia
Press releases with images get 7x more views than text-only releases. Include high-resolution photos, logos, infographics, or videos to make your release more engaging.
Write for Your Audience
Know who you're trying to reach and tailor your message accordingly. B2B announcements need different language than consumer-focused releases. Industry jargon is fine for trade publications but avoid it for general news.
Follow Up Strategically
After distribution, follow up with key journalists who cover your industry. Offer exclusive interviews, additional data, or expert commentary to increase coverage opportunities.
